My New Favorite Protein Shake (Plus Recipes!)

Can I make a confession? It might shock people, because I swear I’m the only person on the internet that feels this way, but here it goes…
I don’t like protein shakes or smoothies.
This post contains affiliate links. To find out more about what this means, see my full disclosure
accurate. I can enjoy a good smoothie every now and then, but not every day. I’ve certainly never been a fan of drinking a smoothie for breakfast or lunch.
Basically, I drink my smoothie or shake will a full meal’s worth of calories, and then I want lunch. That’s not how it’s supposed to work. I’m supposed to be able to drink this on the go instead of eating junk. But, I’m still hungry enough for junk after I drink them.
Please tell me it’s not just me.
Over the years, I’ve tried several times to drink different kinds of shakes, and it’s never worked out. Until I tried this one.
I finally found a shake that works for me!
Finally, after years of searching, I found
Orgain Organic Protein Shakes
. They taste good (not chalky), blend well with a variety of recipes,
have an ingredients list that I can get on board with. Plus, it’s available on Amazon Prime, so it scores huge points in the laziness (I mean, uhh..busy mom) department.
It seems so rare these days!
For the last few months, I’ve been drinking Orgain Protein Shakes on a regular basis, and I love them. They keep me full the way an actual meal would, and I can add pretty much any ingredient I want and it still tastes great!
Plus, ya’ll know how important good ingredients are to me. That’s what’s kept me from trying most of the shakes on the market. The ingredients in this shake are good enough for me to be okay with drinking every day.
My favorite recipes:
I’ve tried these shakes a few different ways, to see what I like best, and I thought I’d share my favorites with you so that you have some ideas when you go to make your first shake.
Iced Coffee Protein Shake
2 scoops of Vanilla Orgain Organic Protein Powder
8 oz plain (unsweetened) almond milk
Approximately 2-3 oz iced coffee
Add all of your ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. This is great as an afternoon treat, and much better for you than that iced coffee you might be considering!
Superfood Breakfast Shake
This is my favorite, and it’s loaded with antioxidants and superfoods.
Vanilla Orgain Organic Protein Powder
8 oz plain (unsweetened) almond milk
Frozen blueberries
1 handful of fresh spinach (any greens)
1.5 oz Ningxia Red (Young Living’s amazing antioxidant drink)
Add all of your ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
Chocolate Almond Butter Delight
(Do you like the names I’m making up??)
2 scoops of Vanilla Orgain Organic Protein Powder
8 oz plain (unsweetened) almond milk
1 scoop of raw, organic cacao powder
1 scoop of organic almond butter (can use peanut butter, but I have a kid with an allergy)
1 small drizzle of raw local honey (optional)
Add all of your ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
I’d really like to try this with the chocolate version of the shake, but so far I’ve only bought the vanilla and this is fabulous. It’s perfect for when I’m craving sweet, and I’m betting I could even sneak some spinach into it without being able to taste it. Eat your greens!
This has been a favorite through the summer! I love peaches
2 scoops of Vanilla Orgain Organic Protein Powder
8 oz plain (unsweetened) almond milk
1/2 fresh peach or nectarine, cut into cubes
1 handful of frozen blueberries (or mixed berries)
A dash of cinnamon
Add all of your ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
Have you found a protein shake that you love?
If not, I hope you give Orgain a try! It took me a long time to find a shake that I like, and I hope that by sharing the information, you’ll find one, too!
I love drinking a shake on busy mornings or when I’m running the roads during lunch time. I still
a nice, big meal, don’t get me wrong. I’m a total foodie, and always will be. These shakes just give me a good option for those days where I don’t have time to cook, and would otherwise turn to poorer food choices!
What’s your favorite way to drink a shake? I’d love to add some recipes to my rotation!
