I’m not sure how it happened, but I’m officially the mom of a tween. Didn’t we just come home from the hospital yesterday? Well, as she constantly likes to remind me, that’s not the case, She’s eleven now, and

a child. It’s all about being

If you’re also the mom of a tween girl, you probably know just how hard they are to please. Right?

Please agree with me to make me feel less alone).

We can’t do anything too childish, but they’re not quite mature enough for things intended for teens. It’s that weird, awkward age right in the middle, and it’s so,

I thought it was hard enough when I was going through it myself, but it turns out that it’s just as hard being the mom of a tween!

I just recently had this struggle when it came to Addie’s 11th birthday party. Obviously the days are gone when I could just go out and get the latest cartoon on some plates, put up a streamer and call it a day, right? It’s got to be cooler than that.

If you’re having the same struggle right now, this spa party might be the perfect tween birthday party idea for you!

Spa Party Ideas for Your Tween

The idea came to me as I was writing about how to give yourself a

, but the longer I thought about it, the more I realized I could alter it to be perfect for 11 year olds.

So, we got to work, invited her friends, and had a

Here are some ideas to help you get started on your

spa birthday party!

Spa Party Activities:

What I love most about this spa party idea is that the party in itself

the activity. You don’t have to plan games or find a way to keep the kids entertained. Let’s face it, that alone makes it the perfect tween birthday party idea!

I also love that it was

to plan and execute. In fact, compared to most of our past birthdays, this one was probably the easiest! We planned it in about a week and everyone there had a great time. Of course, if I’d had more time, we could have made it extra spectacular, but even on short notice, it turned out amazing.

Here were the activities we pulled together for the girls in attendance:

First up was face masks, and I think for a group of 11 year olds, this was probably the biggest hit of the night!

If I’d had more time, my plan was to make a fun DIY mask with the girls, but since we pulled everything together short notice, I just bought some of

these face mask packets.

The shimmer effect was a huge hit among the girls, and I can vouch for the fact that they’re actually really pretty!

Once their face masks were on, they each got a couple of cucumbers for their eyes. You know, to remove those circles from all those late nights studying, of course!

Foot bath & Pedicure

Once they were all settled with their face masks, I situated each girl with her own foot bath full of bubbling bath salts so they could totally zen out while they waited for their masks to be done working their magic.

. I used lavender, since it’s a calming, soothing aroma. We did ours in

, so that each girl could have her own.

Once they were done soaking and pulling off their face masks (

they came back to their seats, got a rose-water toner spritz, and got a foot rub with this amazing peppermint lotion from Plant Therapy. It’s by far my favorite invigorating lotion, and the girls loved it!

Of course, no pedicure is complete without nail polish.

Next up was manicures!

We didn’t go quite as in-depth on these. Each girl got a little

Possibly the biggest hit of the night was our final activity. After getting all fresh and pampered, each girl got to pick out a special makeup look! It was so glamorous! I had my friend help with this part, because I’m

simple when it comes to makeup, and she loves getting creative.

Each girl got a total makeover, along with a quick makeup lesson. Which, naturally means that they’re

better at makeup than I am.

We kept the food pretty simple, but still tried to stay on theme.

On the table for party night were finger sandwiches, fruit, veggies, lemon cucumber water, and cupcake parfaits (recipe below).

I did think about adding some “bubbly” in plastic champagne glasses, but opted out of it to avoid upsetting anyone. Of course, if you know all of the families coming really well, it’s always an option!
