Getting Started with Young Living Essential Oils

A Little Life Lately

Holy moly has life been hectic lately. So hectic that I feel my carefully designed blog schedule starting to slip! I hate missing a blogging day, but sometimes our priorities have to shift. My focus has been really wrapped up in recovering from a back injury, and something was bound to slip.

I’m trying to get back in the swing of things, though, and I thought it’d be fun to share a bit of my life lately! I love writing tutorials and well-researched posts, but sometimes it’s fun to just relax a little and talk about life.

So, here’s what’s been going on the last couple of months.

Those of you that watch my

stories probably already know, but in February, I injured my back. It’s not the first time (I have a notoriously bad back), but this time, it didn’t get better on its own.

I was finally forced to see a chiropractor and I’m now dealing with therapy and adjustments multiple times a week for the next month. Don’t neglect your body, friends. I’ve been saying for

that I should start seeing a chiropractor, but I put it off because it wasn’t a priority.

This journey hasn’t been fun. It’s frustrating feeling broken, and being unable to do what I normally do. And what’s worse is that I probably could have avoided a lot of this if I’d just been seen when I first noticed an issue.

In better news, I finally got the all-clear to practice yoga again!

The last month really left me in a funk and feeling pretty down about what I could and couldn’t do.  Being

has done wonders for my mindset and it’s amazing how much happier I’ve become.

This weekend, we were able to make it to the beach for a sunset yoga practice with my favorite group. We did a lot of balancing practice, which was extra challenging with the wind, but I was so proud to hold the poses! I’ve always struggled with tree pose and other balancing postures. It turns out, my alignment was causing a lot of stability issues.  I just thought I had terrible balance!

I was able to hold several poses Saturday, which is a huge accomplishment for me!

We also just celebrated a 4th birthday party for Charlotte.

It’s hard to believe, but my “baby” is now four! Due to my physical limitations this month, we had a small, simple party for her this year. I didn’t go overboard like I normally do, and instead opted for simple themed decorations from Party City, but she was in heaven.

Several friends and family members came by and she had a really great day! After her party, she begged to stay the night with her cousins, which surprised us since we’d planned our beach trip for that evening. Still, she said she’d rather have a sleep over, so our beach afternoon was just the two of us!

Spring projects are also in full swing.

My husband was gone for the entire month of February, and after the winter we had this year, we had a

of spring projects to complete. The poor guy came home from a month long work trip to a huge list of projects!

Some of the projects we’ve been tackling the last couple of weeks are:

re-planting and mulching our front garden bed

knocking down an old brick planter on the porch (it was falling apart!)

installing a new support beam on the porch

moving some rose-bushes

fixing the garden fence

plant a veggie and herb garden

and, cleaning up the yard

We’re nearing the end of the simple projects, but we’re not totally done. We still want to paint the exterior of the house before it gets too hot, plus, we promised the kids a tree house this year.  Wish us luck on that!

Of course, it’s worth noting that this is all being done during my recovery, so I haven’t been much help. Hopefully soon, I’ll be able to take on more and get these projects done before summer hits Texas!

My business is blooming.

This year, I decided to really commit to the

Young Living business

, and I can’t tell you how rewarding it’s been. I started to get my oils paid for, but I’m now making money on top of my monthly order.

Now that I’ve made this a priority, I’m excited to see where it goes! It’s all happening so fast, and I really just want to enjoy the ride.

We’re also working on some big life changes coming up!

Over the last month, we’ve been having a lot of discussion with Addie, our oldest. She’s requested to homeschool for her 4th grade year, and while I was really overwhelmed by the idea at first, we’re going to give it a try!

Until this month, I hadn’t looked into homeschooling at all. We’d briefly considered it before she started school, but never did much research.  Now that I have, I can honestly say I’m really excited!

the last few weeks, and decided to do a literature based, Charlotte Mason inspired curriculum. Some of the books I’ve picked are starting to come in already.  It’s starting to feel real and I can’t wait for September!

While I’ve known for a year that I wanted to bring my husband home from work, I hadn’t realized how much I wanted us to be a stay at home family until we started planning to homeschool. Now, this feels like a giant step towards a huge goal I didn’t know we had.  Wish us luck with the new school year! I’ll be sure to share a little about our journey here on the blog, but don’t worry. I learned my lesson about

, and this won’t become a homeschool blog!

So, that’s a bit of what we have going on lately behind the blog.

I hope that explains my absences and flakiness lately! I’m hoping to be back in the groove and back on schedule now.  If I’m honest, thought, there’s a lot more that takes precendence. I love my blog, and I love connecting with my readers, but I’ve sacrificed my health for a business once before, and I just can’t do it again! So please, be patient with me while my focus is elsewhere. I promise I’m not deserting you forever. I just have my own personal things to work out.  If you want to stay in touch, I’m still posting and doing stories regularly on

and I’d love to chat!
